They are handcrafted using a technique called Gabba. The ancient technique of chain-stitches a traditional Kashmiri handicraft is important to the local economy. This work is produced in remote villages and provides an important supplementary income between harvests and other rural work.

Please note: This product is handmade so the artwork  and colours may differ slightly from the images.

Story: Travelling Through Country
Artist: Damien and Yilpi Marks
Mt. Liebig, west of Papunya. Damien’s great grandfather and his family are travelling through the desert towards Kintore, collecting food, camping. The sun is setting over a hillside. The red concentric circles are dry rockholes, and the blue and white are filled with clean water. The red stripes are the tracks of the family walking through the sand.
