Glen Jampijinpa Martin

Aboriginal Warlpiri man

Glen Jampijinpa Martin grew up in Nyirripi, a remote aboriginal community located approximately 430 km from Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. He is the son of Judith Nungarrayi Martin and Alistair Jangala Turner and is the grandson of Shorty Jangala Robertson, a major Warlpiri artist.

He began painting with Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu and Nyirripi in 2016. He paints his mother’s Janganpa Jukurrpa (Brush-tail Possum Dreaming), dreamings which relate directly to his land, its features and the plants and animals that inhabit it. These stories have been passed down to him by his mother and her mother before her for millennia. Glen enjoys working with colour using an unrestricted palette to depict his traditional iconography and his semi-abstract forms of birds that live around Nyirripi.
